Orange Warning – Freezing Rain: Kemptville, Merrickville-Wolford, Ottawa South, Smiths Falls, Lanark County

Brockville – The Yellow Warning for Freezing Rain and Rainfall continues today for Brockville, Prescott, Mallorytown, Gananoque, Westport, Charleston Lake, Kingston and Morrisburg – Long Sault.
As well, an Orange Warning – Freezing Rain continues for Kemptville, Merrickville-Wolford, Smiths Falls and Ottawa.
Yellow Warning – Rainfall: Brockville, Prescott, Gananoque, Mallorytown, Kingston, Morrisburg, and Long Sault.
Rain, heavy at times is expected. The saturated or frozen ground will have little ability to absorb this rainfall. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm. Locally higher amounts are possible in areas that receive thunderstorms. This morning and lasting through the day.
A series of low pressure systems will lead to significant rainfall across parts of southern Ontario.
There is also a freezing rain warning in effect for the region for a possible period of freezing rain before changing over to rain.

Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas.
Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Avoid low-lying areas. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Yellow Warning – Freezing Rain: Brockville, Prescott, Westport, Charleston Lake, Morrisburg and Long Sault.
A period of freezing rain this morning before changing over to rain. A period of freezing rain lasting several hours. Ice accretion or build up of 2 to 5 mm. This morning into early afternoon.
A series of low pressure systems will lead to significant freezing rain across parts of southern Ontario. Temperatures will hover near the freezing mark and may result in some portions of the region receiving freezing rain while others transition to rainfall earlier or receive purely rain.

Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Local utility outages are possible.

Significant freezing rain event expected today. Prolonged period of freezing rain. Ice accretion or build up of 10 to 20 mm. Continuing today and diminishing this evening.
A series of low pressure systems will lead to significant freezing rain across parts of southern Ontario. Freezing rain may fall heavily at times. In this case, the precipitation may not freeze immediately, which may lead to localized flooding in low lying areas.
Temperatures over some areas across eastern Ontario closer to the St. Lawrence River may rise above the freezing mark this afternoon, which would lessen the amount of ice build up in these areas.
Although precipitation will likely continue through the night, it should become more patchy in nature early this evening.
Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic. Prolonged utility outages are likely. Significant damage to property, including some buildings and trees, is likely due to the weight of ice.
Be very careful if walking or driving. Stay away from fallen power lines.
