Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal Announces New Director of Operations

Spencerville – The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Wemerman as Director of Operations.

Eric has been a dedicated member of the Township team since 2007, beginning his career here in Environmental Services as an operator in training. Over the past 19 years, he has taken on increasing responsibilities within the organization, serving as Assistant Chief Water/Sewer Operator beginning in 2013 and as Chief Water/Sewer Operator from 2018 to 2026.

During his time as Chief Water/Sewer Operator, Eric oversaw the Township’s municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. In this role, he was responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance while planning and delivering capital infrastructure projects that support the long-term needs of the community.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Royal Roads University and an Environmental Technologist Diploma from Loyalist College.

As Director of Operations, Eric will oversee the Township’s operational services, including roads and municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.

“I believe in a steady, transparent approach to municipal operations that supports staff, informs Council, and keeps residents at the centre of every decision,” said Wemerman. “My focus is on long-term planning, practical solutions, and ensuring our infrastructure continues to meet the needs of residents across the Township.”

Eric succeeds Dave Grant, who will be retiring later this year after many years of dedicated service to the Township. The Township thanks Dave for his many years of leadership and mentorship and wishes him the very best in his upcoming retirement.

With Eric’s appointment, Aaron Campbell will step into the role of Chief Water/Sewer Operator. A recruitment process is currently underway to fill the Assistant Chief Water/Sewer Operator position.

The Township congratulates Eric on his new role and looks forward to his continued leadership supporting the Township’s operational services and infrastructure systems.
