Brockville – It’s Brockville Winter Classic Weekend! Many of the events and activities take place at Rotary Park. This week’s #TBT features a youth hockey team photo from 1944 taken at what is today the Rotary Park Rink.
This site had been home to an indoor arena between 1914 and 1937 (destroyed by fire).
Through the 1940s there was an open-air rink at the site. Between 1951 and 1978 (the roof collapsed) there was another indoor arena. Then, once again, an outdoor rink.
The roof that covers the open-air rink today was added in 2017 thanks to community fundraising efforts.
What are your memories of skating or playing hockey at this site in Downtown Brockville?
