Augusta Twsp. – Two people face charges after a break-in at a storage unit facility in Augusta Township.
It happened on February 20, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Second Concession Road. The owner of the facility noticed an open door and when he went to check on the unit, he was confronted by two people and hit by a pepper spray-like substance. The two individuals then fled on foot.
Members of the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, the OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit located and arrested two suspects in the area.
Peter BOTTING, age 26 of Russell Township has been charged with:
- Administer noxious thing
- Break and enter – commit an indictable offence
- Theft under $5000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
- Fail to comply with a release order – three counts
Erica CURRIE, age 33 of Kingston, has been charged with:
- Break and enter – commit an indictable offence
- Theft under $5000
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Failure to comply with an undertaking – two counts
Both accused also have outstanding warrants from other police services.
They were held in custody, with bail hearings scheduled for February 21, 2024, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
