Female Arrested in Intimate Partner Dispute

On March 5, 2024, at about 11:45 am, police received a call from a male advising his 38-year- old, girlfriend, was in a dispute where an assault had taken place in the area of James St. Investigation revealed that the female had thrown a cup of liquid on the male and also had caused unrepairable damage to his guitar. The female was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.00. She was released with a future court date and conditions to abstain from communicating with the male.

Later that day at about 5:00 pm, police received information from the male victim that the 38-year-old, female subject, had contacted him. There were comments made that also caused officers to have concern for her well-being. She was located and assessed, as well as arrested for the offence of failing to comply with the undertaking regarding breaching the non-communication condition. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Early Morning Break & Enter

On March 6, 2024, at about 6:15 am, police received a report of an alarm at the Telus Store at 2447 Parkedale Ave. Officers arrived and investigation revealed that a window on the front of the store had been smashed and the store entered by the suspect. It was determined through video evidence that a lone individual had entered the store at about 6:09 am and stole various merchandise in the approximate range of four to five thousand dollars. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark-coloured minivan, a couple of minutes later. Officers continue to work on identifying the suspect, however, we encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-TIPS (8477).

Male Arrested After Intimate Partner Dispute

On March 6, 2024, at about 9:00 pm, police received a call regarding an intimate partner dispute at a residence on Bridlewood Dr. Officers responded and the investigation revealed that a couple at the residence had recently been in a dispute regarding a financial situation. The argument had escalated to the point that the 46-year-old, male, had punched two holes in the wall and thrown several items around the house, causing damage. Other family members were present in the household. The male was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.00. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

Intimate Partner Dispute Leads to Arrest Multiple Offences

On March 8, 2024, at about 12:15 am, police received a call regarding an injured female during a dispute in the area of Cartier Court. Investigation revealed that a female was involved in a dispute with her 50-year-old, female, partner. The couple was in a dispute over cigarettes when the victim was attacked by her partner, receiving several strikes to the face and being choked. The victim got free from the area and sought help from someone nearby. Police were then notified. Paramedics attended and checked on the victim’s injuries, which can be described as non-life-threatening. The female assailant was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault causing bodily harm, overcoming resistance (choking) and uttering threats to cause harm.

Subject Fled Scene of a Traffic Stop and Later Arrested

On March 3, 2024, at about 1:00 am, officers conducted a vehicle on George St., for traffic-related infractions. It was found that there was a 38-year-old, male driver, along with a female sleeping in the back seat, not wearing a seatbelt. The male driver appeared to be very nervous and it was determined that he provided a fake name to police. He was unable to provide the required documents and answer basic questions. The inside of the vehicle was in disarray with drug paraphernalia visible. Officers then developed the belief that the driver was under the influence of substances and a roadside breath demand was made.

He refused to cooperate with the roadside demand and then sped off from the officers, fleeing the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle again as there was concern for the female in the rear seat, but the pursuit did not continue due to public safety concerns. Further investigation revealed the identity of the male and female. It was discovered that the male driver was on condition to abstain from communicating with the female in the vehicle. These conditions were about a previous incident with concerns for her safety.

Later, on March 4, 2024, the male was located in an unrelated matter by the OPP. The male was arrested, turned over to the Brockville Police Service and held for a bail hearing. He was
charged with the offences of failing to comply with a release order, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, obstructing police, refusal to comply with a breath demand, and multiple Highway Traffic Act offences.
