Brockville – The City of Brockville’s compost site opens on Monday, April 1st and it’s not an April Fools joke.
That is also Easter Monday which is not a Statutory holiday for the city. There is also no spring collection of leaves this year.
The compost site is located at the Gord Watts Municipal Centre, 251 North Augusta Road and its hours of operation are:
Monday to Friday: April 1 to August 31: 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturdays: April 1 to November 29: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Closed Statutory Holidays
The Leaf & Yard Compost Site accepts leaves, indoor and garden plants, small amounts of soil, brush, hedge trimmings, and tree limbs.
- Grass clippings, sod, weeds, and household organic wastes are not accepted at the compost site.
- Leaves are accepted loose or in paper leaf bags only.
- Paper leaf bags must not be taped or stapled.
- Plastic Bags are not permitted on site.
- Brush must be debagged.
- Tree limbs must be less than four (4) feet in length and less than eight (8) inches in diameter.
- Brockville residents are entitled to two (2) free wheelbarrow-sized loads of compost per year. Residents are responsible for loading and transportation on of small quantities of compost.
Site Fees in Cash Only:
Tree Limbs, Brush, Hedge Trimmings (price includes HST):
- Car: $3
- Trailer less than 10 feet in length: $6
- Truck, Van or SUV: $6
- Car and Trailer: $8
- Truck and Trailer: $11
- Trailer more than 10 feet in length: $20
- Tandem wheels: $20
- Leaves: No charge
Compost Sales in Cash Only:
- $25 per load Pickup, Van, or Trailer
- $40 per load Pickup or Van with Trailer
- Single axle dump: $100 per load
- Tandem axle dump: $200 per load
- Triaxle Dump Truck: $300 per load
