Man Arrested After Threats with Knife

Brockville – An 18-year-old man is facing assault with a weapon and uttering threats charges after police were called to Park Street near Cowan’s Dairy for a report of a man threatening people with a knife on Thursday, April 11th.

Police said this is the second serious weapons call with concern for public safety they have had in less than 2 weeks.

“The male suspect was making threats towards people in the area and when they began to call police, he continued to threaten them while following the callers.” said police.

When officers arrived they quickly, identified and engaged the suspect making a gunpoint arrest and taking him into custody.

Police also said that once the man was arrested, “his despicable behaviour continued as he began urinating and throwing feces around the cell block area.”

The suspect was also on probation, according to police.

The man was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offences of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, mischief under $5,000.00 and failing to comply with probation.

Police commented, “No one was injured in the incident, however, this type of interaction would be extremely scary for the victims and public involved.”
