Gananoque – The Gananoque & Area Food Bank announced this week they have a new program, the School Weekend Bundles which is funded by the Leeds and Grenville United Way.
In a press release, the food bank said, “Due to the rising number of families with children accessing the Gananoque Food Bank we have decided to assist through the creation of Weekend Bundles for children/youth attending local schools.”
The bundles are to include nutritious meals for the weekend when breakfast programs are not accessible. The service is confidential and will be available to all children/youth within the Gananoque & Area Food Bank catchment area.
The food bank said collaborating with multiple schools in the catchment area including Linklater Public School, Gananoque Intermediate and Secondary School, St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Thousand Islands Elementary School ensures a wider reach and impact, reaching more students who may benefit from this support.
Food packages will be provided to the schools weekly for the remainder of the school year until Spring 2025.
