Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from April 22 to May 18, 2024.

April 22nd, 2024

On April 22nd, 2024, officers on patrol observed a motorcycle with an improper plate. Further inspection revealed the plate did not match the motorcycle, and that the bike had been previously reported stolen. As a result, the 53-year-old person from Gananoque who was in possession of the bike was arrested and charged with Possession of property obtained by crime – under $5000. They were released on an appearance notice, and the motorcycle was seized and returned to its rightful owner.

April 22nd, 2024

On April 22nd, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of threats that occurred the day before. A 36-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Utter threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal, and Failure to comply with a probation order. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions.

May 3rd, 2024

On May 3rd, 2024, officers responded to a King Street East business for a report of an unwanted person. Officers requested the person to leave the property at the request of the business. The person ignored officers and then attempted to strike the police. The 45-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer. They were released on an Appearance Notice and trespassed from the property.

May 10th, 2024

On May 10th, 2024, a bench warrant was issued for a person who had failed to attend their court date as required. On May 11th, 2024, officers responded to a report of an unwanted person at a King
Street East business. Upon arrival, it was determined they were wanted, and breaching a probation order. The 45-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order, Failing to attend court, and Mischief – obstructing, interrupting, or interfering with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of the property. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

May 11th, 2024

On May 11th, 2024, officers attended a residence regarding a dispute, upon arrival, damage was observed to the front door, and it was disclosed that multiple items had been stolen. Officers located
the suspect, a youth from Gananoque, who was arrested and charged with Mischief under $5000 and Theft under $5000. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

May 11th, 2024

On May 11th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an impaired driver. Officers located and stopped the vehicle that was observed to be driving erratically. Upon speaking to the driver, they showed obvious signs of impairment. As a result, a 35-year-old person from Lansdowne was arrested and after further testing, they were charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration. They were later released on an Undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

May 12th, 2024

On May 12th, 2024, officers on patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was owned by a suspended driver. The driver was identified and found to have a suspended license. While on the stop, officers observed open alcohol in the vehicle and a further search found methamphetamine. As a result, a 44-year-old person from Brockville was arrested and charged with Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine and released on an undertaking with conditions.

May 15th, 2024

On May 15th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a domestic assault that had occurred earlier in the evening. An investigation was conducted and as a result, a 35-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

May 18th, 2024

On May 18th, 2024, officers received a report of the complainant’s tire being punctured for a second time. An investigation was conducted, and a suspect was identified. That same day, officers located and arrested a 44-year-old person from Gananoque, who was charged with mischief–domestic. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. No one has the right to abuse another person. Victims of intimate partner violence or sexual assault and witnesses are encouraged to contact the Police in the area they reside or where the behaviour is occurring.
