Brockville – For the first time, Brockville General Hospital is opening enrollment in its professional learning courses to members of the public.
This week, the hospital’s Professional Practice department launched a new page on the hospital’s website where enrollment in 14 professional courses is available. Details on course content, dates, cost, prerequisite requirements, and how to register are available at: www.BrockvilleGeneralHospital.ca/ProfessionalCourses.
“During the pandemic, Brockville General became a source of trusted health information that the community turned to when they needed us to keep safe,” said Nick Vlacholias, President and CEO. “By offering these courses to the public, we’re continuing to enhance our role as a healthcare leader in our community. Whether you’re coming to us for care or information and education, our hospital is a centre of excellence.”
The launch of courses to the community follows the recent opening of Brockville General’s new Professional Practice Learning Lab earlier this month. That innovative space provides hospital staff with a place to learn, develop, and practice their skills – a resource that’s particularly vital with many new graduates entering the healthcare system.
“I’m proud of the leadership the hospital is demonstrating by offering professional courses to members of the community and the support we’re showing our staff by investing in their ongoing skills development,” said Melissa Berquist, Director of Professional Practice. “Our Professional Practice department and certified trainers have the expertise and we’re already providing these certification and recertification courses internally. So, it’s natural to make them available to the public and allow people the convenience of enrolling close to where they live.”
