Brockville – On August 15, 2024, at about 8:45 pm, police received a 911 call to attend the area of Henry St., regarding a 40-year-old, male subject wielding an axe. Officers arrived quickly located the male and arrested him at gunpoint. Luckily, no one was injured.
Investigation revealed that the victim was using the boat launch, and had exited his pickup truck momentarily to check his boat trailer before leaving the area. He noticed that the male subject was leaving the door of the vehicle with the key to his pickup truck. As the subject was walking away, the victim confronted him. At that time, the subject brandished an axe waiving it in a threatening manner at the victim. The subject then made further attempts to leave with the property.
As noted above, officers located the male and took him into custody. It was also discovered that the male subject was currently sentenced to four separate probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The property was recovered and the male subject was held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault with a weapon, theft under $5,000.00, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and four counts of failure to comply with probation conditions.
