Two Arrested After Fleeing from an Impaired Involved Motor Vehicle Collision

On August 22, 2024, at 3:15 pm, police received a 911 call regarding a head-on motor vehicle collision, at the intersection of King St. E. and Park St. Information was that airbags were deployed and a male and female, fled from one of the vehicles on foot. There were multiple witnesses to the incident, one of them followed the two fleeing, to a nearby area.

Officers responded and located the two involved. They were identified as a 28-year-old, male and a 23-year-old, female. It was discovered that the male was operating the vehicle at the time of the collision and the female was on bail conditions not to be around or communicate with the male.

Investigation also revealed that there was drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and the driver displayed signs of drug use. Both were placed under arrest and held for a bail hearing regarding their charges. The 28-year-old, male was arrested and charged with failure to stop after an accident, dangerous operation of a vehicle and operation while impaired by drugs. The 23-
year-old, female was arrested and charged with failure to comply with the release order and bail conditions.

Paramedics attended the scene to check on the well-being of the involved individuals. The driver of the second involved vehicle was assessed by paramedics and cleared. The 28-year-old, male did attend the Brockville General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was released from
the hospital to continue to his bail hearing.

Male Arrested for Possession of a Weapon

On August 22, 2024, police received a report from a 33-year-old, male regarding the theft of his bicycle. The male was very agitated, to the point where he was making comments to cause bodily harm to a female he believed had committed the theft.

Officers were speaking with the subject at about 8:00 pm, in the area of William St. about the theft. During that conversation, he brandished a knife, and he eventually complied with officers’ demands to drop the knife.

Shortly after, he began walking into traffic, causing near collisions and obstructing traffic. The male was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and mischief – interfering with the lawful use and operation of property. He was held for a bail hearing.
