Brockville – Brockville Mayor Matt Wren posted on his Facebook page on Thursday some highlights from Wednesday night’s presentation by the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville about the Supportive Cabin Initiative.

Highlights:

  • The initiative creates a safe and supportive environment for individuals on the byname list who have experienced chronic homelessness
  • 25 individual cabins, each providing a private space for residents including basic living amenities
  • 24/7 supervision: the site will be managed by the John Howard Society of Kingston & District ensuring round-the-clock supervision and support for residents
  • Emergency services have been part of ongoing discussions to ensure the site is safe for residents and the community
  • The site will be ready for occupancy in December 2024 at 1805 County Road 2 East
  • Part of a broader strategy to reduce homelessness by providing a pathway to more permanent housing solutions.
