Gananoque – Police Reports from the Gananoque Police Service from October 31st to December 4th, 2024.
Stolen Statue:
On October 31st, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a statue that had been stolen from Horticultural Society Park. The statue was 4 feet tall, made of brass, and was a tribute to Gaye “Noel” Bullock. It was valued at approximately $10,000 dollars.
An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that the statue had been cut into pieces and sold for scrap for a value of $126.00 dollars. As a result, on December 3rd, 2024, a 52-year-old person from Gananoque and a 61-year-old person from Gananoque were arrested and charged with: Theft over $5000, and Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
Failing to Report:
On November 20th, 2024, a warrant was issued for a 35-year-old person from Ottawa for failing to report to their probation officer as required. On November 25th, 2024, the accused was arrested by a neighbouring police service, and charged with Failure to comply with probation order. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.
Traffic Stop:
On November 22nd, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving dangerously. During the stop, the driver was observed to be under the influence of drugs. A search was conducted and as a result, the 40-year-old person from Kingston was charged with two Provincial Offence Notices for Driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, and the Driver failed to surrender license.
Public Intoxication:
On November 22nd, 2024, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a 16-year-old person intoxicated in the residence and being violent with residents. Upon arrival, the person was found outside the residence while under the influence of alcohol and was belligerent with police. They were arrested and charged with a Provincial Offence Notice for Being intoxicated in a public place. They were released when sober.
Resisting Arrest:
On November 27th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 hang-up call, and as per policy, officers attended the residence where a family dispute was ongoing. Officers identified the one occupant who had been previously trespassed from the property.
The person became aggressive with officers and was arrested for breach of the peace and trespassing. The 43-year-old person from Kingston was charged with Resist peace officer. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
Obstructing Police Officer/Drug Charges:
On December 4th, 2024, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle containing two occupants. One occupant provided a verbal identification that was later proven to be false. They were also found to be breaching their conditional sentence order.
As a result, a 39-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and charged with Obstruct peace officer, and Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine. They were released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.
Impaired Driving:
On December 4th, 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside alcotest was conducted, failing. The driver was arrested and transported to the station for further tests.
As a result, a 40-year-old person from Toronto was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. They were released on an undertaking with conditions, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
