Fire Scene in North End

On December 18, 2024, at about 11:00 am, police originally received a call for a disturbance at an apartment building on Kyle Crt. Officers attended and found that there in fact was a small fire and the Brockville Fire Department was in attendance.

Officers attended the residence and learned that there was an e-bike battery charging that somehow malfunctioned and the battery began to bubble and smoke. The owners attempted to put the fire out with water, which, made the situation worse. Firefighters were able to take care of the battery and rendered everything safe.

Unfortunately, two officers who had attended the scene to investigate the initial, suspected disturbance, were exposed to the fumes of the burning battery. They did receive medical attention and were released by doctors with a plan to monitor possible concerns. At this time, it appears this is precautionary only.
