North Grenville – The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the injuries suffered by a 15-month-old boy yesterday at a residence in Oxford Station
On Friday, May 9, 2025, shortly after noon, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member was moving a personal vehicle in their driveway when the vehicle struck the boy.
The child was transported to a regional trauma centre for treatment of serious injuries. The child remains in the hospital in stable condition, the SIU says.
The Grenville County OPP detachment was investigating the incident, with the assistance of the OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team. The OPP has contacted the SIU, which has invoked its mandate. As such, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
“Our thoughts are with the child’s family and everyone impacted by this tragic incident,” said Grenville OPP.
The SIU has assigned four investigators, one forensic investigator and one collision deconstructionist, to the case.
Four witness officials and one subject official have been designated by the SIU.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php
