Prescott – Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands held the official groundbreaking for their new build, called Lockett Place, in Prescott.
Prescott Mayor Shankar, members of Town Council and MP Michael Barrett joined Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands, along with many supporters and members of the Lockett family, on Saturday, July 5th to mark the official groundbreaking of Lockett Place – a new affordable housing development at 360 Dibble Street, directly behind the Prescott Town Hall.
The site has been named Lockett Place in tribute to Ruth Lockett — beloved Town Councillor, longtime Prescott business owner, and dedicated Habitat for Humanity – Thousand Islands board member and community volunteer — whose passion for community service and affordable housing continues to inspire us all. Ruth’s legacy lives on through this transformative project.
The project will see the construction of four semi-detached homes, providing a mix of two and three-bedroom units for local families. It reflects the town’s shared commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive community, where everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home.
Congratulations to all who have helped bring this vision to life, including Habitat for Humanity – Thousand Islands staff and volunteers, local committee and board members, sponsors, and donors.
