
Brockville – The Brockville Fire Department responded to an active fire at the residence of 51 Bennett Street on Wednesday, August 7th, around 2:00 pm.
The fire department said that Fire Dispatch received a report of a structure fire at approximately 1:50 pm. The first apparatus arrived within three minutes and encountered heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof of a single-family home.
They stated that a full callback was initiated, resulting in 16 members responding to the scene.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 2:50 p.m. with crew remaining on site to conduct fire watch until the property was turned over to the building owner just after 6:00 p.m., said the Brockville Fire Department.
All occupants, three people and two pets, were able to escape safely, with no injuries reported. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined; however, initial findings indicate that there is no suspicious cause. The fire investigation has now been completed, according to the fire department.
