Local funding is part of nearly $257 million invested to support critical infrastructure upgrades at hospitals and community healthcare facilities across Ontario

Brockville — The Ontario government is continuing to protect local health care by investing $1.08 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) to upgrade/repair infrastructure at Brockville General Hospital and Kemptville District Hospital.
Brockville General Hospital will receive $604,757, and Kemptville District Hospital will receive $478,509 in HIRF funding.
In addition, Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced the following local health service providers will receive funding through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund (CIRF):
- Rideau Community Health Services: $73,903
- Country Roads Community Health Centre: $50,518
- Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health: $12,496
The local funding is part of a broader $257 million investment to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 66 community health-care facilities across the province.
“I’m pleased to deliver this funding to our local hospitals and community health services on behalf of our government. It will ensure patients can continue to access the care they need in safe, modern environments,” said MPP Clark. “These investments will also upgrade the workplaces where our dedicated healthcare professionals are providing exceptional care in our communities every day.”
“This funding allows our teams at Brockville General to make vital repairs and upgrades to our existing hospital,” said Julie Caffin, Brockville General Hospital President and CEO. “Our teams are putting the funding to use to make key repairs to sanitary lines, replace the roof of our legacy building, and replace two of our aging elevators. By ensuring our facilities are in the best condition possible, our teams can continue to provide the high-quality care our community expects and deserves.”
“This funding is critical for KDH, which requires improvements to aging infrastructure to continue providing high-quality and safe healthcare for our community,” said Frank Vassallo, CEO of Kemptville District Hospital.
The HIRF and CIRF programs enable healthcare system partners to address their urgent infrastructure needs, including the upgrading or replacement of roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms, and emergency generators. This year, the Ontario government increased funding for these programs by 12.3%.
“Our government is continuing to make historic investments to protect Ontario’s healthcare system, ensuring that more people in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “Supporting infrastructure upgrades at hospitals in Brockville and Kemptville is another way our government is ensuring people can receive high-quality care, closer to home.”
Ontario continues to make historic investments in healthcare. Over the next 10 years, the province is investing nearly $60 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the Ontario government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds and build a connected, people-first healthcare system.
Through Your Health: A Plan For Connected and Convenient Care, Ontario is expanding and modernizing hospitals and building new healthcare facilities, making it faster and easier for people of all ages to connect to the high-quality care they need, where and when they need it.
