Brockville – The Brockville Police Service has received additional support with four new Special Constables recently.
Earlier this year, they welcomed the new Special Constables to support their patrol operations and daily response to calls for service.
“With the proclamation of the Community Safety and Policing Act in April 2024, Special Constables have received broadened responsibilities, with the ability to be designated in areas that assist with police related duties,” said Brockville Police in a press release issued on Thursday.
The duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Crime scene security
- Conducting canvases to gather information
- Traffic control and enforcement
- Prisoner care and control
- Uphold a code of conduct and adhere to Ontario Regulation 410/23
They say this broader scope enables Special Constables to take on more substantial duties, allowing police officers to focus on critical tasks.
As well as ensuring readiness, Special Constables undergo newly adopted academic instruction, practical training, use-of-force training, and examinations.
“We are proud to announce that the successful candidates selected for these important roles are Aiden Chapman, Hana Gazdik, Matthew White, and Zachary Williams,” said the Brockville Police. “Congratulations! We’re excited to have you on board and look forward to your contributions in delivering equitable and professional law enforcement to our community.”
