Kemptville – The Kemptville 73s lost both of their CCHL games over the weekend. Friday, in their season opener, they lost 3-2 to the Cornwall Colts and then on Saturday, they lost a 6-1 decision to the Rockland Nationals.
On Friday night, the Cornwall Colts stole a second point over the Kemptville 73’s with a buzzer-beater from William Cotton late in the third period.
After trading goals through two periods, Kemptville struck early in the third—but Cornwall’s Rockwell answered on the power play, and with one second left, William Cotton buried his second of the night to silence the home crowd.
Colts goalie Colton Rheaume stood tall with 37 saves, backstopping Cornwall to their second straight victory to start the season. Despite outshooting the Colts 39–30, Kemptville was unable to get a point at home.
The Rockland Nationals continued their strong start to the season with a 6–1 win over the Kemptville 73’s on Saturday night at Rockland Arena.
Kemptville was the first to get on the scoreboard with a power play marker from Alexis Beaulieu, standing as the lone goal in the first period. The Rockland Nationals would answer back with four goals in the second and added two more on the power play in the third to seal the victory.
The 73s travel to Smiths Falls to play the Bears on Friday night. The puck drops at 7:30 pm.
