Brockville – Brockville Police are investigating a break-in at the Shoppers Drug Mart on King Street West in Downtown Brockville.
Police say that on Thursday, October 9, around 3:45 am, they received two separate calls regarding the sound of glass breaking and an alarm at the Shoppers Drug Mart on King Street West.
Officers responded quickly to find that a large window on the front of the store had been smashed. Officers entered the store and cleared the building, and found that no suspects were inside the building. Other damage to property inside the store was observed.
Police say video surveillance footage confirmed that three suspects, who were masked and wearing gloves, entered the store through the broken window. They smashed the glass of a fragrance cabinet to gain access to various high-priced fragrances.
The suspects placed a quantity of the fragrances into what appeared to be a garbage bag and fled approximately two minutes later, according to police.
Brockville Police held the crime scene for processing by a Forensic Identification officer, who collected several important pieces of evidence. The total approximate value of the theft is not yet known; however, it is believed to be substantial as high-value, brand-name fragrances were targeted.
The investigation is active and ongoing, according to police, and they are asking if anyone has any information regarding the break-in; they can report it to the Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127 or to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
