Lengthy Foot Chase Results in Arrest and Drug Possession Charges

Brockville – On October 22, 2025, shortly after 4:00 am, police were investigating a commercial break-and-enter located on King Street West.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a 25-year-old male walking on George Street wearing a hoodie and concealing his identity with a balaclava.

Officers approached the individual and told him he was under arrest. He then fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued westbound toward Perth Street and then southbound to King Street.

During the chase, the suspect discarded a backpack near the intersection of King Street West and Perth Street, which was subsequently recovered by police.

Additional officers assisted using police vehicles, and the suspect was eventually arrested near the intersection of King Street West and Gilmour Street.

Officers observed the suspect reaching into his waistband. Upon arrest, he resisted and attempted to break free from police custody. A search of the individual revealed a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, Canadian currency, and a folding knife.

Further investigation revealed that he was not connected to the commercial break-and-enter incident.

The suspect was held in custody pending a bail hearing and has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Resisting a peace officer
