Serious Motor Vehicle Collision on North Augusta Road in Brockville on Sunday

Brockville – Brockville Police continue to investigate a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, October 26th, in Brockville.

It occurred around 1:00 am Sunday. Brockville Police say they were notified by Leeds & Grenville Paramedics of a serious motor vehicle collision on the 401 overpass on North Augusta Road.

Police say they responded promptly and secured the scene, with initial investigative observations that a 29-year-old man, driving alone, had been operating a vehicle at a high rate of speed. At some point during the event, the vehicle struck a pole and rolled over. The driver was then ejected from the vehicle and sustained significant injuries.

The exact time between the collision and its discovery by paramedics is currently unknown, according to police. The driver was transported to Kingston General Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Police closed North Augusta Road between Parkedale Avenue and Waverly Drive for the majority of the day to allow for the investigation. They also called in the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators to assist with their expertise and scene analysis.

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor, though this has not yet been confirmed, and the investigation remains ongoing to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident, said police.
