Brockville – Trustee Jamie Schoular and Trustee Lynda Johnston will continue as Chair and Vice-Chair for the Upper Canada District School Board’s (UCDSB) Board of Trustees for the 2025-2026 school year. This is the third consecutive year that the duo has led the Board of Trustees.
The Chair and Vice-Chair are voted in each year at the organizational meeting by their trustee peers.
Schoular was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 2018, and this will be his third year serving as Chair of the Board. He is in his second term as a trustee.
“I’m honoured to serve again as Chair and work alongside such a dedicated group of trustees who always put students first. Our board remains focused on what’s best for students and on strong fiscal stewardship. As we anticipate a year of change and renewal in public education, we welcome Minister Calandra’s leadership and his review of school board governance. We share his focus on fiscal responsibility and improved student outcomes, and we look forward to working with him to strengthen public education across Ontario,” says Chair Schoular.
Johnston is in her first term as a trustee, being elected in October 2022, and her third year as Vice-Chair.
“I’m really proud of this Board and everything that those at this table stand for. Students are at the heart of our work and this focus remains crystal clear through all the decisions made by this team. Thank you for your continued support and I’m looking forward to another year serving as vice-chair,” says Johnston.
During the time that Schoular and Johnston have served as Chair and Vice-Chair, the UCDSB has passed budgets with modest surpluses; EQAO results have increased in reading, writing and math at all grade levels; graduation rates have increased each year; and enrolment has increased as more families choose the UCDSB.
