Brockville – The United Way Leeds & Grenville is honoured to welcome Wendy Galloway as the keynote speaker for our 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Event being held on Thursday, April 23rd.

The event runs from 7:30 to 9:30 AM at Cedar Valley Golf & Country Club & The Clubhouse Cafe.

We celebrate the volunteers who helped make our 2025 Campaign a success, enjoy a full breakfast buffet, and network with community members and local organizations.

There will also be a media event after to announce our 2026 Funded Partners.

Wendy Galloway is the 2026 Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award recipient from the Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce.

Wendy’s lifelong dedication to volunteering began at just 12 years old at her local YMCA, where she supported inclusive programming for children with developmental disabilities. That early experience helped shape both her professional path and her enduring belief in the power of community.

Over the past five decades, Wendy has contributed thousands of volunteer hours to initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing, advance women’s leadership, support youth development, promote volunteerism, and enhance community safety.

Her impact includes more than a decade of service with the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence–Rideau, where she served as Board Chair, as well as vital roles in major fundraising events such as the 1000 Islands Wine and Food Festival and Dancing Stars Leeds Grenville.

Wendy dedicated ten years to us as Health & Social Services Co Chair on the United Way Leeds & Grenville fundraising cabinet, helping to raise and distribute millions of dollars in support of essential programs for vulnerable individuals and families. Her commitment to community safety includes long-term service with the Athens OPP Community Policing Committee, where she helped establish the North Leeds Victim Services Unit and supported impaired driving prevention campaigns such as Operation Lookout.

Driven by a belief that “many hands make light work,” Wendy has lent her leadership and hands on support to countless organizations, including Brockville Women’s Network, Athens Cub Scouts, Pineview School Parent Council, Brockville minor hockey teams, and, more recently, local arts and cultural fundraisers.

Professionally, Wendy has spent more than 35 years with Career Services of Brockville as a Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CCRC), championing inclusive employment and contributing to innovations such as the VjobReady.

Colleagues, volunteers, and community partners consistently describe Wendy as a model of humility, collaboration, and purpose. These are qualities that have shaped not only her own service but the spirit of volunteerism throughout Leeds & Grenville.

As we gather to celebrate the vital contributions of volunteers across our region, we are deeply proud to hear from Wendy Galloway, whose leadership, generosity, and lifelong commitment to community exemplify the very heart of our mission.
