Bunnies Saturday Update — Bunnies improve to 4-0 on the young season with a pair of wins vs Ottawa Patriots 19u.
Game 1 Bunnies 12 Patriots 1:
JJ Easton with the win as the 16u hurler continues to show poise on the mound making hitters put the ball in play. Easton goes 5 innings as the mercy rule kicked giving up 4 hits, 1bb with 10k’s. Wyatt Last continues to swing a hot bat pounding out a triple and homerun. James Spooner with 2 hits, Charlie Todd doubled with singles by Nolan Orazietti, Matt Barkley and Pierce Stewart.
Game 2 Bunnies 17 Patriots 10:
Nick Beach (16u) started and showed some promise as did Taylor Brayton (16u) in relief. Barkley finished up with a taste of the closer role. Zadok Roiger (d,t), Last (s,d) and Todd (s,d) all with 2 hits. Max DeCoteau doubled with singles by Lukus Doak, Barkley and Spooner. Nice start to the season.
Bunnies Sunday Update — final scores on the day unflattering but had chances to win both games. Need to be better finishing games against solid teams.
Game 1 Diamonds 19u 9 Bunnies 1:
Game was 3-1 after 6 but Diamonds put a 6 spot up in the 7th to put game out of reach. Charlie Todd with the loss despite going 6 innings giving up only 2 earned runs. Matt Barkley and Eamon Morrison in relief. Bunnies only manage 3 hits with Barkley homering and singles by Lukus Doak and Zadok Roiger.
Game 2 Diamonds 19u 11 Bunnies 4:
Bunnies hold a 4-2 lead going into the 7th but give up a 9 spot and thats the ball game. Aaron Roy was outstanding once again going 5.1 giving up 1 earned run. Barkley, Wyatt Last and Mark Bowlby in relief. Barkley homered for the second time on the day with singles by James Spooner, Last, Roiger and Taylor Brayton (first Bunnies hit and RBI), all in all great starting pitching.
Defence needs to be better and need to cut down on the k’s (25 in 2 games puts zero pressure on defence), hopefully the more we see velocity the kids will adjust. The team will have a good practice day on Saturday May 23rd before hosting the Ottawa Patriots 18u team in exhibition dh starting at 11:00 am at Fulford on Sunday May 24th.
