
Augusta Township – At 1:39 p.m. on June 1, 2026, Augusta Fire Rescue, the Prescott Fire Department, and the Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire on McIntosh Road in Augusta Township.
Under a First Response Agreement, the Prescott Fire Department responds to emergencies in this area of the Township. Augusta Fire Rescue also maintains a reciprocal Water Tanker Agreement with the Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department, allowing for the rapid deployment of additional water supply resources.
Approximately 30 firefighters responding in 13 emergency vehicles attended the incident. The first Fire Department vehicle arrived on scene at 1:48 p.m. and found a residential structure with heavy smoke and flames visible from the roof.
Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack and worked to contain the fire. The fire was declared under control at 2:52 p.m.
No injuries were reported to occupants or emergency responders.
Augusta Fire Rescue would like to thank the Prescott Fire Department, Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department, Ontario Provincial Police, Leeds and Grenville Paramedic Service, and Ontario Hydro for their assistance and cooperation during this incident.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is currently under investigation by Augusta Fire Rescue in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Ontario Provincial Police.
