
Brockville – With community events taking place downtown and along the waterfront this weekend, here are some details regarding road closures, parking impacts, and transit detours.
Road Closure:
The Downtown Brockville BIA’s Shop the Street: Summer of Love event will take place on King Street on Saturday, July 11. King Street from Perth Street to Bethune Street will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
No parking will be permitted on King St. within the closure area during the event.
Boat Launch Closure:
The Home Street Boat Launch will be closed on Saturday, July 11 from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to accommodate the BaitFuel Fishing Derby.
City Transit Red Route Detour:
Due to the King St. closure, the Red Route will take a detour route between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., details as follows:
From Court House, the bus will turn East on James Street, south on Garden St, east on Pine Street to Park Street, before joining the regular King Street Route.
To Court House, while driving on Ormond Street the bus will turn West on James Street, and follow it to Perth Street. The bus will turn South, drive to the Water St. at St. Paul bus stop, before driving through the Metro parking lot and re joining its regular King St. west route.
For the duration of the detour, 7 bus stops will be unable to be serviced including:
- King at Garden
- King at Orchard
- Ormond at Wellington
- King at Ormond
- King at Apple
- Aquatarium
- Water at Home
Red route riders are encouraged to adjust their pickup locations to King St at Park St, King St at Perth St, or along James Street. Bus drivers are being asked to be on the lookout for people flagging down the bus on James Street, and will allow riders to get off during the detour tie at non designated bus stops.
