John Campbell’s Towing & Employee Charged with Theft and Fraud After Cargo Handling Incident

Brockville – Charges have been laid against John Campbell’s Towing and one of its employees following an investigation into the handling of cargo and the billing of towing services after a collision.

On Wednesday, March 18, a commercial delivery truck transporting food was involved in a collision on the eastbound Highway 401 off-ramp at North Augusta Road in Brockville.

Police say John Campbell’s Towing attended the scene and removed the cargo prior to removing the delivery truck off the highway.

The Leeds County Detachment of the OPP began an investigation into allegations the contents of the delivery truck were not returned to its lawful owner.

As a result of the investigation, Dylan Driscoll, 30, of Maitland, and John Campbell’s Towing have been charged with theft over $5,000, and fraud over $5,000.

John Campbell’s Towing has also been charged under the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act with failing to ensure workers comply with the act, and failing to permit reasonable access.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of justice in Brockville on Oct. 9.
