Technical difficulties with the live streaming last night. A Recorded version will be available later today on the City’s website.
Brockville – There were technical difficulties live streaming last night’s council meeting, but the meeting was recorded and will be available on the city’s website here – https://brockville.civicweb.net/document/192511/?splitscreen=true&media=true.
Brockville’s Mayor, Matt Wren posted to his Facebook page after the meeting with the following information:
“We had a very heavy agenda at tonight’s meeting of the City Council. Unfortunately due to issues with the streaming platform beyond the City’s control, the live stream of tonight’s meeting was not available. Let me catch you up…”
- Final approval was given to a Planning application that paves the way for the local Islamic Community to open their first mosque in our City (I’m extremely proud this process is now complete!)
- Council approved the city submitting a proposal to Tall Ships America to be a Port of Call for the 2025 season and host another Tall Ships Festival. We’re grateful the volunteer committee members of past years stand ready and willing to volunteer again if we are chosen to host another festival.
- We approved moving forward with the design of the proposed Multi-Use Recreational Complex and additional ice surface at Brockville Memorial Centre. Members of local rugby organizations were present to explain the impacts of the reconfiguration of the outdoor amenities and were assured staff would meet with them to address their concerns. Please note this step does not bind the City to build the project as we will need to source funding.
- The city’s 2022 financial statements were received from the independent auditor and approved. There were no net deficits and various surpluses available to place in reserves
- The decision on bringing Para Transit in-house was deferred until September 12 and Councillor Louise Severson invites people with concerns and feedback to contact her at her place of business or by email, lseverson@brockville.com
- Council approved a reconsideration motion bringing the Musi-Theatre lease decision back to the General Standing Committee meeting of September 19 where user groups will be given an opportunity to make a presentation.
“A very long but productive meeting, and we thank all those who were in attendance! The recorded version will be available on the City website on Wednesday.”
