Brockville – MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands & Rideau Lakes Steve Clark has submitted his resignation as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to Premier Ford today.
In a post on his Facebook account today where he posted the letter to Ford he stated: “As someone who has given my life to serving the people through our democratic institutions, it is my responsibility to adhere to the principles of Ministerial accountability. I will continue to serve my constituents as the MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes”
The resignation comes just days after Ontario’s integrity commissioner found that Housing Minister Steve Clark broke ethics rules for his role in the Ford government’s Greenbelt land swap.
In the letter, Clark says, “The housing crisis demands someone who is not a distraction from the important work that needs to be done” and that he needs to take accountability for what has transpired.
Clark will stay on as MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.
