Bridge & Wolak’s Tangorium! Features Queen’s University Symphony Orchestra
Brockville – Not your typical clarinet/accordion duo. The wit and virtuosity of genre-bending musicians Bridge & Wolak will be on full display at the Brockville Arts Centre on Saturday, October 28 at 7 p.m. as they bring their multimedia extravaganza Tangorium to town.
The duo have toured Canada and the U.S. with their fusion of classical music, folk traditions, and improv comedy. The Tangorium concert features the Queen’s University Symphony Orchestra accompanying the duo as they pay homage to intimate Tango classics of the 1930s, through Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Nuevo, to new original epic symphonic compositions—fusing Classical, Cabaret, Rock, and Heavy Metal music with Tango. Samia O’Day, President of the Brockville Concert Association (BCA), guarantees an amazing night.
“What a way to close out the BCA’s 75th World of Music anniversary series,” she says. “We came roaring back from the lockdowns in a big way, and with Tangorium, Bridge & Wolak are going to wow our audience.”
In addition to being touring musicians, Michael Bridge and Kornel Wolak are widely known for their commitment to education through their mentorship program and university teaching. Bridge received his doctorate in accordion performance from the University of Toronto in 2023, and Wolak is an Assistant Professor of clarinet at Queen’s University. Music education and youth involvement are also cornerstones of the BCA’s mandate.
The BCA invites you to experience the musical mastery and charm of Bridge & Wolak, who’ve been called the “Victor Borges of the 21st Century.”
The Brockville Concert Association gratefully acknowledges the support of the Ontario Arts Council and many charitable, non-profit, private, and individual donors.
Tickets for Tangorium! are available for purchase at the Brockville Arts Centre.
