Ottawa – The Canadian Armed Forces will be conducting convoy operations and driver training on roads and highways in the Ottawa and Leeds & Grenville areas on Saturday and Sunday.
In a statement, the Department of National Defence (DND) says to expect increased army personnel and vehicles on roads and highways including Highways 417, 416 and 401 in what they call, “Exercise Owl Talons”.
The forces have established pre-planned routes between Ottawa and Mallorytown, just east of Kingston.
DND says measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience during the exercise dates and members of the public are being asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles.
Personnel will conduct short stops and longer halts throughout the duration of the exercise, stopping for rest, fuel and scheduled maintenance.
Participating soldiers will not carry any weapons or ammunition, the forces reassured the public.
