Although the museum doesn’t have any particular programs planned, there are several ways you can access museum objects and stories to take some time to reflect. The museum is open on Saturday, November 11, 12 noon-4 pm.
The museum’s People of Brockville exhibit features the stories of several individuals involved in WWI and WWII, including Frederick Curry, Thain MacDowell, Robert Multon, the Brockettes, and John Ross Matherson.
Past Stories from the Stones episodes, available on our YouTube Channel and Digital Museum Site, include Thain MacDowell (episode 2), Elwood Starr (episode 9), and Wilfred Baker (episode 16): https://brockvillemuseum.wixsite.com/digitalmuseum/stories-from-the-stones?fbclid=IwAR24JTA7Ft3is3ta2WSN9fVkszJ4tk7avpWtDuZKgWhX7W5WXU6Qg0yYNoI
Our Monuments in Time series included an episode on Brockville’s War Memorial: https://youtu.be/l_qaB29IIDM
A recording of our 2020 virtual Talk & Tea on the Brockville Officers Training Camp is still available on our YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/sMIBJjUsqOw
Over on our Digital Museum Site is a virtual exhibit, Remembering Women In War: https://brockvillemuseum.wixsite.com/digitalmuseum/remembering-women-of-war?fbclid=IwAR0bwuOkcwp2tsH7qiIDwasR8Hd9pdeZ-xTfwNrBp_AB2LZb19xpca1UxeY
And of course, you can browse the museum’s collection database online anytime. Hint: use the Advance Search option, and under Associated Event, select “World War I” and/or “World War II”.
Ceremonies in downtown Brockville start at 10:45 am at City Hall and proceed to the war memorial.
