Province Funding Infrastructure Investment to Rehabilitate Lyndhurst Dam

Lyndhurst – The Village of Lyndhurst is benefiting from a provincial infrastructure investment to rehabilitate Lyndhurst Dam. This funding is part of a $22 million program to help mitigate flooding and keep people and communities safe.

The Lyndhurst Dam is one of six across the province that will benefit from the infrastructure funding.

“This investment will help to mitigate flooding and protect the surrounding environment,” said Steve Clark, MPP Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. “This much-needed funding for Lyndhurst is part of our government’s priority to invest in public infrastructure improvements.”

“Our government is taking action to make sure we have infrastructure in place to protect people and communities across Ontario,” said Graydon Smith, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry. “With this investment, we will be able to ensure these dams continue to meet provincial standards and prevent significant environmental, financial and public safety implications that can be associated with dam failure.”

Lyndhurst Dam is located at the southern end of Lower Beverley Lake along Lyndhurst Creek. Work will include structural reinforcement of the current dam.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 310 dams across the province.

The rehabilitation of the six dams will extend the useful service life of each for up to 100 years.
