Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from December 20th to 30th, 2023.
Fail to Comply:
On December 20th, 2023, a summons was issued by Kingston Probation and Parole for a 68-year-old male from Gananoque for failing to report as required. On December 21st, officers served the male, advising him of the new charge of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He will be seen in court at a later date.
Break & Enter:
On December 28th, 2023, officers responded to a break and enter in progress at a local business. Witnesses were able to provide a detailed description of the suspect who had fled, and officers located him attempting to hide from police.
The 35-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Break & Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of Break-in Instruments, and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order. The male was transported to the hospital due to excessive intoxication. He was later released on an Undertaking with conditions.
Flight From Police/Fail to Comply:
On December 28th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received notification of an inmate being released from a detention centre that had an active warrant for driving-related offences: Flight from a Police Officer, Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code, and two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order. Officers attended and arrested the 31-year-old male, who was then held for a show cause bail hearing, and remanded into custody.
Sexual Assault:
On December 29th, 2023, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault on a child, and the suspect was attempting to flee. Officers arrived and arrested a 57-year-old male from Gananoque. As a result of further investigation, the male was charged with Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 and Sexual Interference. The male, who was bound by release conditions stemming from previous sex-related offences in another municipality, was found to be in breach of those conditions and was charged accordingly. He was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.
Public Intoxication:
On December 30th, 2023, an officer on patrol observed traffic pylons blocking a roadway that had been placed there by a nearby intoxicated party. While speaking to the group, the 19-year-old male from Gananoque became hostile with police, while showing signs of impairment. As a result, the male was arrested and held until sober. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Being intoxicated in a public place.
