SUMMARY:Brockville & Area Food Bank\, Girls Inc. of Upper Canada & QueenCare\, Hosting Open Mic/Jam Session in Efforts to Receive Menstrual Product Donations
DESCRIPTION:The Brockville & Area Food Bank\, in partnership with Girls Inc. of Upper Canada and QueenCare\, is hosting an Open Mic/Jam Session on Saturday\, October 5th between 1-4 pm as part of our efforts to receive menstrual product donations!\n \n1 in 6 Canadians who menstruate have experienced period inequity\, and this number rises to 1 in 4 for households earning less than $40\,000/year. Lack of access to menstrual products is closely linked to poverty and disproportionately impacts youth\, single mothers\, people experiencing homelessness\, and gender-diverse individuals.\n \nWe see this statistic come to life every day with the clients that we serve at each of our respective organizations. That’s why we’ve chosen to collaborate with Starbucks and local artists to bring you an afternoon of live music and tasty treats – all for a good cause!\n \nStop by at any time to join in the fun! Not only will you be offering a helping hand to those facing period inequity in your community\, but Starbucks will be providing a free drink to everyone who donates a menstrual product! We hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Festival of Small Halls: Lynne Hanson at Delta Old Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:The Festival of Small Halls presents Lynne Hanson on Friday\, October 18th at the Delta Old Town Hall\, 8 Lower Beverley Lake Park\, in Delta. \nThe doors open at 7:00 pm with the show starting at 7:30 pm. \nToo tough for folk and too blues-influenced for country\, LYNNE HANSON’s brand of porch music with a little red dirt can turn on a dime from a sunshine\, blue sky ballad to a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next. Her hard-living music has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s own Queen of Americana.” And while her deep\, bluesy croon has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch\, it’s the poetry of her lyrics that sets her apart. \nA two-time Canadian Folk Music Award winner\, Hanson is known for her high energy\, roots guitar-driven live performances\, whether playing solo or with her band the Good Intentions. She has an uncanny way of connecting with her audience with an authenticity that is as entertaining as it is disarming. \nTickets are $40.60 ($35.00 + $5.60 HST & Service Fees) and are available here: https://festivalofsmallhalls.frontgatetickets.com/event/h1dnwzc03eef4sxn
