DESCRIPTION:The annual Merrickville Fair hosted by the Marrickville Agricultural Society is happening August 11th to 13th at the Merrickville Fairgrounds. \nThe fair gates are open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Friday and Saturday and 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday. \nThere will be lots to see and do during the fair including a Children’s Horse & pony Show\, 4-H Inter County Sheep Show\, Sheep Shearing Demos\, Truck Pull\, Canadian Horse Show\, The Zoo Crew\, Dr. Kaboom\, Corn Hole Toss Tournament\, Horse Pull\, Children’s Pedal Tractor Pull\, Antique Tractor Pull\, Draft & Mini Horse Show\, Dairy Cattle Open Show\, BBQ\, live entertainment by Kiefer Layne and Rosewood on Saturday and an Open Mic on Saturday evening. DESCRIPTION:This week’s Talk & Tea will explore the history of the Brockville Arts Centre – Thursday\, August 10 @ 2 pm\n\n\n\nThe building was originally built in 1858 as the town hall\, but part of the building opened as an Opera House in the 1880s. The building was renovated and reopened as “The New Theatre” in 1911\, and after being closed through the 1930s\, reopened as “The Regent Theatre” in 1939. In 1960 it was again renovated and reopened as the Civic Auditorium. More renovations in 1975 added the present-day lobby area. It was renamed the Brockville Arts Centre in 1990 and was refurbished in 2008.\n\n\n\nFor more on this building’s complicated and rich history (which includes several fires!)\, come to our Talk & Tea\, Thursday\, August 10 at 2 pm at the museum. DESCRIPTION:The Merrickville Classic Car Show is being held this Sunday\, July 30th at the Merrickville Fairgrounds. \nCalling all classic cars\, trucks\, fire trucks\, sports cars\, race cars\, customs and rat rods for this one-day extravaganza. \nThe show runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and will include\, a BBQ by the Merrickville Fire Department\, music by Merrickville’s Southbound band\, Pinstriping demonstrations by local artist Paul Elias\, 50/50 draw in benefit of the Merrickville Food Cupboard\, Half hourly draws for over $1600 in wonderful door prizes\, “Thunder Alley” contest for the vehicle with the loudest pipes\, vendors and more. \nVehicle registration is $10\, spectators are admitted free. \nFor more information: http://www.antique-shows.ca/cars.html
