DESCRIPTION:The Athens community will be celebrating 40 years of their community bonfire this Saturday\, January 10th\, at Centennial Park/Centre 76. \nThe annual burning of the Christmas trees will begin with free skating at Centre 76 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm\, followed by the torchlight parade starting at 7:30 pm with the lighting of the Christmas Tree Bonfire. \nThe trees will be picked up in Athens at the curbside\, or you can drop your tree off at Centennial Park. \nThere will be free hot chocolate available.

DESCRIPTION:After a year off due to a lack of volunteers\, the 42nd annual Athens CORNFEST is back this Saturday\, August 16th and for the first time at Centennial Park. \nThe free event is being held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and will feature live music\, children’s games\, a free petting zoo\, face painting\, a Corn Hole Tournament\, vendors and crafts and of course\, corn on the cob. \nThe popular Children’s parade will start at 10:00 am at Centre 76 parking lot. Children will walk and ride around the southern half of the track at Centennial Park.
