SUMMARY:Growing Ontario: A Leadership Debate on Agriculture and Rural Communities
DESCRIPTION:Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Ontario Liberal Riding Association to Host the First Rural-Focused Leadership Debate \nLeeds & Grenville – The Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Ontario Liberal Riding Association is proud to announce that it will host the first official Ontario Liberal Leadership Debate dedicated exclusively to agriculture and rural communities. \nAs Ontario’s farmers\, rural municipalities and small communities face unprecedented challenges and opportunities\, this debate will place the issues that matter most to rural Ontario at the centre of the leadership campaign. \nLeeds and Grenville\, Ontario — Sunday\, August 16\, 2026 \nNorth Grenville Municipal Centre 285 44\, North Grenville\, Ontario K0G1J0 \nLeadership candidates will discuss topics including: \n· Agriculture and food security \n· Rural health care \n· Housing and rural growth \n· Infrastructure and transportation \n· Broadband and digital connectivity \n· Economic development \n· Education and workforce development \n· Environmental stewardship \n· The future of rural Ontario \nUnlike traditional political debates\, candidates will receive the general themes in advance\, but will not receive the specific questions. \nThis format has been chosen deliberately to encourage thoughtful discussion and genuine dialogue rather than rehearsed talking points. \nRural Ontarians deserve authentic answers from those seeking to become Ontario’s next Premier. \n“This debate reflects the importance of rural Ontario to the future of our province\,” said Ray Heffernan\, President of the Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Ontario Liberal Riding Association. \n“Farm families\, small businesses\, rural municipalities and the many volunteers who strengthen our communities deserve the opportunity to hear directly from each leadership candidate on the issues affecting their daily lives. We want a discussion grounded in experience\, practical ideas and a genuine understanding of rural Ontario.” \nAgriculture contributes billions of dollars annually to Ontario’s economy and supports thousands of jobs across the province. Rural communities also play an essential role in food production\, environmental stewardship\, manufacturing\, tourism and small business development. Agriculture& Forestry \nThe Riding Association believes the leadership race provides an important opportunity to place these issues at the forefront of provincial discussion.

SUMMARY:Rideau St Lawrence Science Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Rideau St Lawrence Science Fair is taking place Thursday\, April 10\, at the North Grenville Municipal Centre\, 285 County Road 44\, in Kemptville. \nJudging took place at 9:00 am this morning\, and the fair is open to the public from 11:00 am. \nThe Awards Ceremony will start at approximately 3:00 pm in the Theatre. \nThere are 70 STEM projects ready to be presented by the youth of Leeds\, Grenville and Lanark Counties. \nThe Rideau-St. Lawrence Science Fair is open to students who are under the age of 21\, in Leeds\, Grenville or Lanark Counties and are in Grades 7 to OAC. \nThe Fair began in 1962 and was organised by a group of scientists and engineers from DuPont Canada. Since then\, they have welcomed many officials and participants from Lanark\, Leeds and Grenville’s teaching\, medical\, scientific\, and technical community. Without their dedicated work and support\, the Fair would not happen. \nMany of the participants have gone on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF)\, where\, despite our small size\, they have enjoyed great success. The CWSF participants have won Best of Fair\, Gold\, Silver and Bronze medals\, scholarships\, monetary prizes\, trips and special tours. These projects all required an idea with a good question\, some research and hard work. Helpful mentors\, teachers\, fair organizers\, fair judges and their sponsors made it possible. \nFor more information: https://www.rslsf.ca/
