Kingston – The City of Kingston will once again host the largest in-water boating event of the summer – the 1000 Islands Poker Run Weekend – August 4, 5, and 6, 2023.

This year, the event has been expanded in scope to include both performance and family boats, with two separate groups challenging the waters of the mighty St. Lawrence River in a quest for the best “poker hand”.

The 1000 Islands Poker Run is not a race – boaters stop at five designated points along the route to pick up a single playing card, sealed in an envelope… at the end of the event, in Kingston on Saturday afternoon, the envelopes will be opened and the boater with the best poker hand will be declared the winner.

Power Boating Canada and Poker Runs Inc. created this magical weekend of tourism and boating more than 38 years ago – we started it all right here in heart of the 1000 Islands region, and we took the concept across North America through our US division, Poker Runs America.

Our goal each year with Power Boating Canada & Poker Runs America is to stimulate the economy and promote the boating lifestyle through family fun, while bringing together the world’s most powerful, attractive, and affordable boats to ever run the mighty St. Lawrence River.

This year’s event will concentrate on bringing more avid boating enthusiasts to the streets of downtown Kingston, and, of course, through the power of our boating publications: Power Boating Canada MagazineLes Plaisanciers, and our US division magazines Poker Runs America Magazine, and Center Console Life Magazine, and the corresponding websites at:

It gets underway when the boats leave Kingston, the first card stop, at 10:15 am Saturday, then they will travel to The Landing at Ivy Lea for the second card stop at 11:00 am.

The Poker Run Lunch Stop, Card #3 is in Brockville once again and offers a spectacular opportunity for the general public to view the boats from Noon to 1:30 pm. (Please note that times are approximate)

Please note: The Harbour will be cleared as all the participants’ boats will be in the Harbour (Seasonal docks excluded) – No boats will be able to enter or exit the Harbour between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM on this date.

As well during the hours between 9 am and 3 pm on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, the Home Street Boat Launch will be closed due to the Poker Run. A city truck will be placed across the ramp to complete this task. Please feel free to use the Henry Street Boat Launch during this time, as it remains open.

After lunch, the boats will leave between 1:30 and 2 pm approximately for card stop #4 which is at the 1000 Islands Boat Museum in Gananoque at 2:45 pm.

The final card stop #5 is back in Kingston where boats will arrive between 3 and 3:30 pm for the finish.
