Elizabethtown-Kitley Township – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has identified the deceased in a death investigation that has now been deemed a homicide.
On July 31, 2023, just after 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a residence where one person was located deceased.
The victim has been identified as Giles DAGENAIS, 66 years old, from Elizabethtown-Kitley Township.
Investigators believe there is no threat to public safety. You can expect to see a continued police presence in the Toledo area while the OPP continues to investigate.
The investigation is being conducted by the Leeds County Detachment Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
