Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from July 13th to August 21st, 2023.
Assault with Weapon:
On July 13th, 2023 officers responded to a King Street business after receiving a report of an assault with a weapon. Officers located the victim who was injured but did not require medical attention. The 26-year-old male from Gananoque was later located and arrested, and the weapon was seized. He was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon. The male was released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen at a later date.
Warrant:
On July 14th, 2023 a neighbouring police service arrested a 37-year-old female from Kingston on the strength of a warrant held by the Gananoque Police Service. The female was transported to the station, where she was charged with Fail to Attend Court, and Failure to Comply with Release Order,
and was held for a bail hearing.
Youth in Distress:
On July 20th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a youth in distress, having a bad reaction to marijuana. Upon arrival, the youth was cooperative but agitated at first, then quickly became assaultive with family and friends. Officers apprehended the youth and provided an escort to the hospital with paramedics for further medical assessment.
Immigration Warrants:
On July 27th, 2023 officers attended a Gananoque business parking lot after receiving a report of a male locked under a truck’s tonneau cover. Officers located the moving vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After identifying the occupants, it was determined that two had active immigration warrants. As a result, two males – one 28-year-old, and the second 24-year-old – both from Mexico were arrested and turned over to officers of the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Assault and Mischief:
On July 30th, 2023, officers responded to a report of an assault at a local residence. Further investigation resulted in a local youth being arrested and charged with Assault and Mischief Under. The youth was released on an appearance notice.
Failure to Stop After Accident:
On July 31st, 2023 officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle collision in front of a King Street East business. Witnesses confirmed the suspect vehicle fled upon learning police had been contacted. Suspect vehicle and driver information was obtained, and on August 3rd, 2023 the investigating officer located the 65-year-old female driver from Kingston who was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop After Accident. She was released on an Appearance Notice, to be seen in court at a later date.
Theft:
On August 3rd, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service was notified of a theft of a cellphone from a local business. Officers conducted an investigation, resulting in the arrest of a 31-year-old female from Gananoque. She was charged with Theft Under and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The female was released on an undertaking with conditions.
Fail to Comply with Probation Order:
On August 5th, 2023 officers attended a King Street residence after receiving a report of two unwanted persons disturbing the peace. As a result, a 34-year-old male from South Frontenac was arrested and charged with failure to Comply with Probation Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
Bench Warrant:
On June 30th, 2023 a bench warrant was issued by the Ontario Court of Justice for a 39-year-old male from Kingston who had failed to attend court as required. On August 9th, 2023 the male turned himself in to the Gananoque Police Service and was charged with Fail to Comply with Appearance Notice. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Theft & Failure to Comply:
On August 11th, 2023 officers responded to a report of a substantial theft from a Stone Street business that had just occurred. A further investigation identified one male suspect and a warrant for arrest was issued. The Gananoque Police Service was notified on August 25th, 2023 that the 25-year-old male had been arrested by a neighbouring service. He was transported to the station and charged with Theft Under, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Failure to Comply with Undertaking. He was released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.
Apprehended Under Mental Health Act:
On August 16th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received 9-1-1 calls reporting a male on King Street threatening to kill people while holding a kitchen knife. Officers located the 35-year-old male from Gananoque, seized the weapon, and apprehended him under the Mental Health Act. He was taken to the hospital for assessment.
Criminal Harassment:
On March 21st, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service was made aware of ongoing harassment that spanned from 2020 to 2023. A lengthy investigation resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old male from Gananoque on August 18th, 2023. He was charged with Criminal Harassment. The male was already in custody with another service and was held for a bail hearing.
Assault & Uttering Threats:
On August 20th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an assault at a local residence. Officers attended and arrested a youth, who was charged with Assault and Utter Threats. The youth was held for a bail hearing.
Intoxicated in Public:
On August 21st, 2023 in the early morning hours, officers responded to a request from paramedics to attend a local motel for an aggressive and intoxicated male. The 44-year-old male from England was banging on doors, disturbing the peace, walking into traffic and refusing medical treatment. Unable to locate any friends or family for the male, he was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place and held until sober for his safety.
