Brockville – Brockville Mayor Matt Wren posted on his Facebook page with an Update on the cleanup of 109 Perth Street the scene of a fire back on July 10th.
An update on clean up of 109 Perth Street:
“I’ve had a number of questions on when we can expect the clean-up to happen at the site of the July 10 fire at 109 Perth Street. This is private property and there is a process that must be followed in a case where the property owner is not taking their own actions to clear away the remnants of a fire
Our Chief Building Official immediately exercised his authority on the day of the fire by issuing an order to the property owner. The date to comply passed without the work being completed.
The City of Brockville has decided it is in the community’s best interest to have the work completed and has been taking the steps necessary to prepare, obtain bids and secure a contractor.
Work will begin very soon with a goal of completion in early October.
The City will seek to have the costs recovered through the avenues available under applicable legislation.
We certainly all look forward to seeing the completion of this process.”
