Gananoque – The Gananoque Fire Department responded to two separate incidents over the weekend, successfully combatting both fires and minimizing damage to the affected properties.
In a post on the town’s Facebook page, they say on Saturday, November 18th, at 8:39 a.m., the dedicated firefighters of Gananoque swiftly arrived at a structure fire. Upon their arrival, they observed smoke emerging from the second story.
Immediately taking action, the firefighters initiated an offensive attack and efficiently brought the fire under control. Regrettably, during the incident, a female occupant sustained injuries and is currently in serious condition receiving medical attention.
The following day, on November 19th, at 10:25 a.m., the Gananoque Fire Department promptly responded to another call for assistance. This time, the firefighters confronted a residence where a smoke alarm was sounding, and visible smoke was observed.
The interior crew was able to contain the fire, limiting the damage solely to the room and its contents.
No firefighters were injured in either of these incidents. Their resilient efforts ensured the safety of the residents and were vital in controlling the fires and mitigating potential harm.
The Gananoque Fire Department would like to extend our gratitude to Leeds and Grenville EMS, Gananoque Police, Gananoque Public Works and TLTI Fire who assisted in both incidents.
