Merrickville – The Grenville OPP has charged three people following an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday, December 16th.
Police say that just before 2:00 p.m., OPP responded to a business on Wellington Street East in Merrickville-Wolford Township for a report of a robbery.
Police officers were advised that two people armed with knives approached an employee and customer, before fleeing the area on foot to a nearby vehicle.
They also said the suspects were arrested a short time later on County Road 43 and a large number of stolen prescription medications were seized.
Hayvin POS, a 19-year-old from Merrickville, Connor O’CALLAGHAN, a 23-year-old and Kristen FERNBERG, a 20-year-old from South Dundas have been charged with the following offences:
- · Armed robbery
- · Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- · Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
Pos and O’Callaghan received further charges of:
- · Assault with a weapon – two charges
- · Disguise with intent
- · Possession of a firearm
- · Possession of a prohibited weapon
Pos also received a charge of Possession of Schedule I Substance-Cocaine.
Police say two people received minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
Fernberg was released, however, the other accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
