Brockville – The hockey season is over for the Brockville Braves as they lost their last regular season game on Friday, 5-1 to the Nepean Raiders at the Memorial Centre.
It’s Curtains for the Braves. In 1963 Ernie Calcutt started his morning sports report with “It’s Curtains For The Combines” as the P-K Combines (Prescott-Kemptville) lost to Moncton Hawks in the Allan Cup quarter-finals. I have disliked that phrase ever since.
Last night Zane Spaniol and crew fought through 52 minutes of entertaining hockey only to see it dissolve in the final 8 minutes.
Matt Ward, Jason Hawkins, Rob Kennedy and the entire roster held their heads high right to the bitter end. It’s been a tough season to play through but it is behind us now.
As The Happenings sang “See You In September”.
