EOSHL Final Playoff Series Between North Dundas and Gananoque is Tied at 1-1

Gananoque – The Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League playoff finals between the Gananoque Islanders and the North Dundas Rockets got underway on the weekend with two games. The best of 5 series is now tied at 1-1.

On Saturday, The Rockets won a 5-4 decision over the Islanders in Chesterville. Gananoque outshot North Dundas 50 to 37 during the game.

In the first period, Rockets’ Fabian Walsh with assists from Michael Mcnamee and Brett Gustavsen scored the first goal of the game at 11:42.

Gananoque’s Brock Higgs on a single-handed goal would tie it up at 1-1 at just 2:34 left in the period.

The second period North Dundas would pick up four goals from Brett Gustavsen (Mike Byrd, Fabian Walsh), Shawn Moors (Marc-Andre Labelle, Todd Marcellus), Chris Kushneriuk (Michael Mcnamee) and Fabian Walsh (Brett Gustavsen, Michael Mcnamee).

The Islanders picked up one on a goal by Ryan Pawlikowski (Ben Blasko, Brock Higgs).

Gananoque would go on in the third to score two more on goals by Brock Higgs (Ryan Verbeek, Eric Selleck) and Ryan Verbeek (Eric Selleck, Chad Duchesne), but not enough to win the game.

Game two was in Gananoque on Sunday where the Islanders won 7-3 over North Dundas.

The Rockets would start well in the first period on goals from Michael Mcnamee, Fabian Walsh (Craig Baxter, Brett Gustavsen) and Michael Mcnamee (Brett Gustavsen, Fabian Walsh) to take the lead, but they would be the only North Dundas goals of the game.

The Islanders picked up one goal from Eric Selleck (Kevin Domingue, Brock Higgs) in the first.

Gananoque would go on to pick up three more in the second on goals by Brock Higgs (Chris Latimer), his second of the game, Kevin Domingue (Brock Higgs, Ben Blasko), and Ben Blasko (Kevin Domingue, Brock Higgs).

In the third, Graeme Brown (Brock Higgs, Ben Blasko) and Ryan Verbeek (Brock Higgs, Graeme Brown) would each score a goal to solidify the Islanders win.

Game three is set for this Thursday back in Chestville. Game time is 8:00 pm.
