Brockville – Brockville’s Blockhouse Island was certainly a busy place this past Monday (for the solar eclipse viewing party), so this week’s #TBT offers a great view of this iconic Brockville landmark.
How does this view compare to how it looks today?
This image captures a transitioning landscape, a shift from an industrial hub to a more recreational gathering place. Evidence of both is clear in this image: the coal piled high in what is now Reynolds Park mixed with trees on the “island” and the spectators gathered for an event on the water.
What other landmarks can you spot in this image? (either long gone or still present) What clues can you spot that might help date this photo? (we do not have an exact date for it).
